About Me
Hannah McCann, MSW, LADC I, LCSW, PGS II

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Problem Gambling Specialist providing telehealth therapy for adults and adolescents across Massachusetts. My work focuses on helping people navigate addiction, co-occurring mental health concerns, and long-standing emotional patterns that can feel difficult to break on their own.
Many individuals come to therapy feeling stuck in cycles related to substance use, emotional reactivity, anxiety, depression, or the impact of past experiences. My goal is to help clients better understand these patterns while building practical tools that support emotional stability, recovery, and long-term change.
Therapy with me is collaborative, grounded, and direct. Sessions focus on building insight while also identifying practical strategies that support change outside of therapy. The goal is not simply to talk about problems, but to create meaningful shifts that support mental health and recovery in daily life.
Professional Background
I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons University and have more than ten years of experience working in mental health and substance use treatment.
Throughout my career I have worked across a range of treatment settings, including detox programs, community-based services, outpatient therapy, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). I have also supported individuals and families in roles focused on recovery support, family dynamics, and long-term stabilization.
Working across these different levels of care has provided a strong understanding of how addiction, trauma, and mental health concerns develop over time. It has also allowed me to work with individuals at many different stages of recovery and healing.
What Therapy Is Like With Me
Many clients come into therapy feeling like they should already have things figured out or that they have tried everything before. Often the work involves slowing down and understanding patterns that developed over time, especially when those patterns once served a purpose.
Therapy is a space where you can show up honestly without needing to have everything sorted out beforehand. Together we work to better understand what is happening internally while building practical tools that support change in daily life.
