An 8-Week Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy Group Program for Women in Recovery
Recovery is about more than abstinence. It’s about rebuilding a life that feels authentic, connected, and worth protecting.
For many women, achieving sobriety is only the beginning. Once the chaos of active addiction begins to settle, deeper questions often emerge.
Who am I without addiction?
How do I trust myself again?
Why do I still feel stuck, even though I’m sober?
How do I heal from everything that happened before, during, and after addiction?
These are the questions that many traditional recovery programs simply don’t have time to explore.

The Recovery Collective for Women™ was created to fill that gap.
Developed by HM Behavioral Health, this eight-week trauma-informed psychotherapy program is designed specifically for women in recovery who are ready to move beyond surviving and begin creating a meaningful, fulfilling life. Rather than focusing solely on maintaining sobriety, the program explores identity, trauma, relationships, emotional healing, self-worth, and personal growth within a supportive therapeutic community.
This is not a lecture-based class or a traditional support group. It is a professionally facilitated psychotherapy group that combines evidence-based clinical interventions, experiential activities, guided reflection, psychoeducation, and meaningful group discussion to promote lasting emotional healing alongside recovery.
Recovery Doesn’t End When Substance Use Stops
Many women enter recovery believing that once they stop using alcohol or drugs, life will automatically become easier. While sobriety is an incredible accomplishment, it often creates space for emotions, memories, relationship challenges, and questions about identity that were previously masked by addiction.
Women in recovery frequently carry experiences of trauma, grief, shame, perfectionism, people-pleasing, unhealthy relationships, or years spent simply trying to survive. Without opportunities to process these experiences, recovery can begin to feel like surviving in a different way.
The Recovery Collective for Women™ recognizes that long-term recovery involves emotional healing, not just behavioral change.
Each week invites participants to look beyond addiction and begin reconnecting with themselves, their values, and the life they want to build moving forward.
A Different Kind of Recovery Group
Unlike many recovery groups that focus primarily on relapse prevention or discussing weekly challenges, The Recovery Collective for Women™ follows a carefully designed therapeutic progression.
Each session builds upon the previous week, creating a structured journey that moves participants from awareness and insight toward practical, sustainable change.
Throughout the program, participants explore topics such as:
Identity beyond addiction
Understanding trauma and survival responses
Shame versus self-compassion
Healthy boundaries
Relationships in recovery
Emotional regulation
Values-based living
Building a meaningful life after addiction
Every session includes psychoeducation, guided discussion, experiential exercises, reflective workbook activities, and practical tools that participants can begin applying in their everyday lives.
What Makes This Program Different?
The Recovery Collective for Women™ was intentionally developed to bridge the gap between individual therapy and traditional recovery support.
Rather than focusing exclusively on addiction, the program recognizes that recovery touches every part of a woman’s life. Healing involves learning how to navigate relationships, rebuild self-trust, process difficult emotions, establish healthy boundaries, and create a future that feels hopeful and meaningful.
Participants are not expected to have all the answers before joining. They simply need a willingness to explore, grow, and connect with other women who understand the challenges of recovery. The program emphasizes:
Trauma-informed care
Evidence-based psychotherapy
Emotional healing alongside sobriety
Experiential learning
Practical life application
Self-discovery and identity development
Connection and community
Long-term recovery wellness
Who Is This Program For?
The Recovery Collective for Women™ is designed for adult women in recovery from substance use disorders who are looking to deepen their recovery through psychotherapy and meaningful personal growth.
The program may be a good fit for women who:
Have established a foundation in recovery and want continued growth
Feel emotionally “stuck” despite maintaining sobriety
Want to better understand themselves beyond addiction
Are working to rebuild relationships and trust
Have experienced trauma or significant life adversity
Want a supportive therapeutic community of women with shared experiences
Are looking for more than a traditional support group
Because this is a closed psychotherapy group, participants begin and complete the program together, creating consistency, trust, and emotional safety throughout the eight-week experience.
A Therapeutic Journey
Each week focuses on a different stage of recovery and healing, allowing participants to gradually build insight, confidence, and practical skills.
The program explores:
Understanding the foundations of recovery
Rediscovering identity
Healing from trauma and survival patterns
Developing healthy boundaries
Releasing shame and strengthening self-compassion
Building authentic relationships
Living according to personal values
Creating a sustainable vision for long-term recovery
By the end of the program, participants leave with a deeper understanding of themselves, stronger emotional tools, practical recovery strategies, and a renewed sense of hope for the future.
More Than a Group. A Community.
Healing happens in relationships.
One of the most meaningful aspects of The Recovery Collective for Women™ is the opportunity to connect with other women who understand the unique challenges of recovery. Many participants describe feeling isolated, misunderstood, or unsure where they fit after achieving sobriety.
Within the group, women are encouraged to share their experiences, support one another, celebrate progress, and recognize that they are not alone in their journey. This sense of connection often becomes one of the most valuable parts of the experience.
